On the Latest Developments in the George Floyd Legal Matters, Justice & Drew, 6.4.20 #TCNT

On Thursday morning I was once again on Justice & Drew discussing the criminal case against the officers involved in George Floyd’s death. This time our discussion focused upon Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison taking over the prosecution of the case and his decision on Wednesday to increase the charges against former MPD officer Derek Chauvin to Second Degree Unintentional Murder and to charge the three other officers involved in the incident with Aiding and Abetting Second Degree Murder. It was an excellent discussion including some great questions from listeners, and I invite you to listen to it here.

If you have not yet read the Amended Complaint against the former MPD officers, I would invite you to do so. For additional analysis of the upcoming criminal case, Mitchell Hamline School of Law Professor Ted Sampsell-Jones wrote an excellent piece for The Dispatch prior to Attorney General Ellison’s announcement of additional charges, and National Review’s Andrew McCarthy writes about the dangerous precedent which Ellison might set by pursuing a “felony murder” charge against Chauvin.

Finally, you can hear me discuss this case in prior appearances on Justice & Drew in my May 28 blog post.
