“3 And Out”: Bethel, Minnesota State Out of Playoffs; Army-Navy Game Features Famous Fans, The BS Show With Bob Sansevere, 12.16.24
On Monday morning, it was time for another edition of The BS Show with Bob Sansevere, and that means another of our weekly “3 And Out” segments, covering three stories which Bob lets me pick to discuss.
During college football season, Bob and I devote our 3 And Out segment to a recap of Minnesota’s two Division I teams – the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and the University of St. Thomas Tommies – and its best non-Division I team, the St. John’s University Johnnies. With the Tommies and Johnnies done for the season, and the Gophers awaiting their Duke’s Mayo Bowl appearance on January 3, we called an audible and discussed some notable games from the past weekend.
First up, it was the Bethel University Royals who, despite long odds, came close to pulling off a major upset against Susquehanna (the team that upset the Johnnies the previous weekend), but saw what appeared to be their game winning touchdown negated by a penalty.
Next, it was another Minnesota team, this time the NCAA Division II Minnesota State Mavericks, who saw their playoff run come to an end with a 35-21 loss to Valdosta State.
Finally, we discussed the “Game of the Week”; namely, the 125th annual Army-Navy Game. This year’s game was highlighted by an appearance from President-Elect Donald Trump, Vice President-Elect JD Vance and a host of other dignitaries, but the game itself proved to live up to its billing. Navy (8-3) pulled off a big upset over Army (11-1), winning 31-13.
All in all, not a bad weekend for college football.
