3 And Out: Johnnies & Tommies Hoops (and Tommies Hockey), The BS Show With Bob Sansevere, 3.3.25

On Monday morning, it was time for another edition of The BS Show with Bob Sansevere, and that means another of our weekly “3 And Out” segments, covering three stories which Bob lets me pick to discuss.
This week was something of a throwback show, with all of our stories focused around two schools who were once rivals in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC); namely, the University of St. Thomas Tommies, and the St. John’s University Johnnies. Of course, the two schools are rivals no more, following St. Thomas’ jump from NCAA Division III up to Division I in 2021.
Our first item focused on the Johnnies, who won the MIAC men’s basketball tournament to become conference champions while at the same time earning the automatic berth in the 64 team NCAA Division III tournament. Meanwhile, the Tommies – winners of two NCAA Division III National Championships prior to their move to the D-1 Summit League – played their last regular season home game at Schoenecker Arena (they move into the new Anderson Arena next year), beating Kansas City and securing second place in the Summit League. Here’s hoping that the Schoenecker magic follows the team to its new home. Finally, the St. Thomas men’s hockey team played its last regular season home game at the St. Thomas Academy ice arena (they’ll be joining the basketball team at Anderson next season) with a conference sweep of Michigan Tech. The Tommies secured home ice advantage throughout the CCHA playoffs.
