Jon Justice, 2.21.25: The Debut of the “Lawyers Extraordinaire”

Jon Justice invited me to be in studio for “Freedom Friday” on Friday morning, and I was joined by my Husch Blackwell colleague, Nick Morgan. Nick served as plaintiff’s counsel in the recent lawsuit which resulted in a candidate for Minnesota House being deemed ineligible to take the seat due to his not being a resident of the district in which he ran. The decision led to an interesting first few weeks of the Legislative Session.

In the spirit of the WWE “Mega Powers” of the 1980s, I dubbed us as the “Lawyers Extraordinaire”, and together with Jon and State Rep. Max Rymer, we had a wide ranging discussion on a number of topics, including Nick’s lawsuit, a pending bill in the Minnesota House affecting women’s sports, handicapping the 2026 elections and some historical considerations for the Minnesota GOP, the ongoing battle between Democrats and DOGE, the return of traffic light cameras to Minneapolis and other cities under a state-authorized pilot program, and proposed legislation in the Minnesota Senate seeking to combat against “nudification”.

I have to say, having a tag team partner today was appreciated!
