Legislature v. Dayton Legal Battle Continues, and SCOTUS Reinstates Travel Ban: Justice & Drew 6.27.17 #TCNT
Yesterday morning I once again donned my “Lawyer Extraordinaire” cap and called into to talk with Justice & Drew not once, but twice about some hot legal issues of critical importance.
First up was the ongoing battle between the Minnesota Legislature and Governor Mark Dayton over the Governor’s use of his line item veto authority to zero out funding for the Legislature in an effort to force them back into a special session to renegotiate the budget bills…which the Governor had previously signed into law. Click here to listen to that discussion, and click here to read the Judge’s order continuing the Legislature’s funding through October 1, 2017 at the level agreed to in last year’s budget.
Next up was Monday’s decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court, most notably the case of Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia, Inc. v. Comer, and the Court’s order agreeing to hear arguments regarding President Trump’s so called “travel ban” and reinstating the ban with a few caveats. Click here to listen to that discussion.
