The BS Show, 11.13.23: “3 And Out” – Johnnies Get Screwed, Gophers Get Embarrassed, and Tommies Walk It Off

Every Monday during college football season on The BS Show with Bob Sansevere, Bob and I devote our 3 And Out Segment to a recap of Minnesota’s two Division I teams – the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and the University of St. Thomas Tommies – and its best non-Division I team, the St. John’s University Johnnies.

This past weekend, the Gophers followed up their embarrassing loss to Illinois with another disappointing loss to Purdue. The Gophers have some soul searching to do for solutions as their season spirals out of control and a bowl game becomes a pipe dream.

Meanwhile, the Johnnies, who defeated Concordia-Moorhead in the MIAC third place playoff game, get snubbed in the D3 playoffs by being denied an at-large bid. Despite their victories over ranked teams such as Trinity and Bethel, the Johnnies will be watching the playoffs from home.

Finally, St. Thomas walks off against San Diego. With one game to go, the Tommies look to finish in a tie for second in the Pioneer League. Given that they cannot go to the playoffs for two more years (part of the agreement that allowed them to jump up to Division I from Division III), a second place finish isn’t the end of the world.
