Washington Supreme Court Decides Bar Exam is Racist, Jon Justice, 3.20.24
On Wednesday morning, I called in to Jon Justice’s morning show to discuss a pair of orders from the Washington Supreme Court finding that the bar exam is racist and ordering that alternative licensure methods be implemented. I opined that, while one can argue as to whether the bar exam is a proper method of licensure to practice law, those declaring it racist are likely: (1) not minorities themselves; and (2) unable to pass the bar exam. In other words, this appears to merely an attempt to lessen the standard of licensure, which can have an adverse impact on already strained court dockets as well as those seeking competent counsel.
You can listen to our discussion here.
And to Jon’s suggestion that I get my own “Lawyer Extraordinaire” documentary on Netflix, count me in.
