The BS Show – “3 And Out”, 10.9.23: Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad
Every Monday during college football season on The BS Show with Bob Sansevere, Bob and I devote our 3 And Out Segment to a recap of Minnesota’s two Division I teams – the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and the University of St. Thomas Tommies – and its best non-Division I team, the St. John’s University Johnnies.
This past weekend, the Johnnies notched a decisive 42-23 win over Concordia-Moorhead, and there don’t seem to be many obstacles left in the way of another MIAC title. The Tommies also scored a win, 17-10, over Pioneer League rival Butler.
And then there were the Gophers, who endured a 52-10 beatdown in front of their home crowd at the hands of No. 2 ranked Michigan (I can remember back in 1986 when the Gophers, behind Rickey Foggie and Darrell Thompson beat the then No. 2 ranked Wolverines in Ann Arbor; no such luck this time).
We also gave a shout out to the St. Thomas men’s hockey team, who opened their third season in D-1 play on Saturday night with a stunning 5-4 upset of No. 8 St. Cloud State in overtime (and they hung with the Huskies the next night as well, losing 1-0).
